Beautiful 16th Century Thatched Pub on the edge of the New Forest in Ringwood, Hampshire.

A family owned and run business, offering a homemade menu for Carnivores, Herbivores, Folivores and Omnivores!

The Elm Tree is a thatched pub, with parts that date back to the 16th Century – based in Hightown Ringwood, 1 minute from the A31, with a large sunny beer garden, easy-access facilities, and wonderful made-from-scratch-food.

The pub is now owned and operated by Paul, Katherine and Deborah Risbridger who live directly opposite. A lively main bar is complemented by a cosy beamed restaurant serving a range of great value pub-grub meals and Caribbean inspired dishes (Head Chef, Jerry was born in ST. Lucia).

The Elm Tree is the perfect start for a New Forest adventure – by foot, on a bike, on horseback or in your car. A sunny south-facing garden is a great spot in the summer.

Sunday roasts are very popular throughout the year, and particularly in the winter when the enormous open fire is blazing. The 16th century Tithe Barn adjacent to the main pub incorporates a remarkable vaulted ceiling, solid wooden floors, and its own bar, making it the ideal venue for parties, celebrations and business events!

What people say about us

"From the very start of booking The Elm for my 70th birthday party, I was so impressed. Katherine was totally lovely & very professional. We had a good chat & giggle apart from booking etc.

she was always available & always answered my emails/Questions.

She was there on the evening to greet me & told me the names of the bar staff etc & got me a drink.

The food was just lovely as were the girls working behind the bar. Such happy, lovely people all round which made it all the more special.

We were even given boxes so people could take home any food that was left. My family & friends were so impressed that they’ve already said they’ll be using the venue in future for their parties.

Many thanks to Katherine & her great team for making it all so enjoyable."

"I have never liked the Elm Tree HOWEVER whilst I have never liked the pub, the excellent management of the family run pub makes it worthwhile for us to visit.
We have enjoyed a traditional Sunday lunch as both a couple, a large group of 50+ in their function room and today a party of 5. Served by Tracy, our lunch today was as good as what you could eat anywhere. Good bake, good service and good enough to attract a customer who has never liked the pub.
Says an awful lot about the management and staff and ultimately, you cannot give them a greater compliment. Were the family to leave I doubt whether I would ever visit again as I am confident that it would deteriorate."

Ringwood Businessman Aiming to Raise £10k Cycling 500km on Ride Africa for Child.org . November 9 th – 16 th , local businessman and charity fund raiser Michael ‘Micky’ Chilman, 62 from Ringwood, along with his long-suffering buddy, Rob Pimenta from Kent, will join 80 top cyclists in the 500km Ride Africa Kenya : Mara Calling challenge from Lake Nakuru to the world famous Masai Mara National Park in the hope of collectively raising hundreds of thousands of pounds for Child.org. This is the fifth time Micky (pictured left above) has undertaken the gruelling ride for Child.org the charity that supports maternal and child healthcare in Kenya. The pair are completely self-funding the expedition whilst aiming to raise an impressive £10k for the charity, through several fundraising events and sponsorship support. “This is going to be a very demanding Ride Africa classic ride of over 500km, and unbelievably our fifth ride across Africa! It will be even more insane and ridiculously more difficult than any of the others! CHILD.org somehow manages to raise the bar on every ride that we do. Two years we cycled through National Parks with lions, elephants, hippos, giraffes, zebras, hyenas, water buffalo, plus other animals that wanted to kill us. This year we have more to worry about including cheetahs which can outrun us! Plus, those enormous hills that go on forever, the extreme heat and humidity and my poor posterior which really does not want to do another one of these challenges! As in previous years we are all cycling in aid of CHILD.org, which has sustained, helped, and cared for and saved the lives of thousands of children and mums and people in need across the poorest regions in Africa, and the poorest regions across the world. It works with pregnant women, communities and Governments to champion community-based solutions and keep mums and babies alive and healthy.” Micky has arranged a host of fundraising events including a well-supported quiz night held in the tithe barn at The Elm Tree during September, which raised over £4k, and to date the pair have raised £7k for the charity.
